Kotobukiya's new Cyandog model kit figure was released in January, and I just barely had time to pick him up and piece him together before I left Japan. I was absolutely ecstatic back when this figure was first revealed about a year ago. Cyandog is my favorite Medabot, and I'd been hoping against all hope that he'd be the next in line to get a new figure. I could hardly believe my eyes when it turned out my wish was coming true!

This was going to be the frigging figure of the YEAR. Let's see how that turned out.

Side of the box, showing off all the super cool things he can do.

The other side of the box shows the other figures available in the series. These are all "cool" Medabots! Can you imagine Cyandog among them!!

I couldn't help but notice Peppercat's tail in the corner of his box illustration. Foreshadowing? One can only hope.

Opening!!

Ooooohhhhh.

Aaaaahhhh... and you know what this means? No stickers or painting necessary! YAAAAAAAAAHOOO!!!

Instruction booklet.

It's very long!

More cool poses.

No progress shots since I was kind of in a hurry. The pics above were all taken back in January, but the ones with the yellow backdrop are recent. Here's Cyandog completed!

Here's Cyandog when you as much as look at him funny!!!

Yeah. The anticipated Toy of the Year actually turned out to be the Most Frustrating Toy to Deal With of my LIFE. I could glue his static parts together, but his arms and legs constantly fall out of their little ball sockets when I try to pose him. I still love him a lot solely due to the fact that he's a new Cyandog figure and still looks very good, but his fragileness is substracting many points and makes me prefer most of my older Cyandogs.

He's said to be 1/6 scale, so here's how he'd look together with a large-headed child.

Here he is together with my favorite Cyandog figure, the old model kit. The new figure certainly LOOKS more impressive, but the old one rarely falls apart and is a blast to play with.

Closeup of his face, you can just barely make out his eyes beneath his visor! Pretty cool.

He comes with his iconic monkey medal.

As well as a to-scale version of the medal!

It actually pops in and out of his back, but once it's in it's pretty tricky to get it back out...!

He also comes with a cardboard full of phrases and even a Noctobat target. You have to cut these out yourself.

Turns out the bigger medal is actually a base for the stand that holds the phrases! This is the only phrase I recognized from the show. "Oyabin no waruguchi wo iu na!!" means "Don't badmouth my boss!" and is from the episode where Cyandog runs away from home.

Oh and FISTS! Yay!!

And open palms.

If one can overlook how his limbs fall off if you sneeze, his joints are very impressive. Check out his double-jointed knees.

His elbows won't bend as far, but they're pretty good too.

His "tail" or whatever it's supposed to be that's covering his keister is static though, which is pretty disappointing. The old model kit figure can sit much better.

It works better if you find an edge for his tail to fall behind.

These things are special effect thingies to make your photos look more action packed.

Wanna talk crap about oyabin some more huh? HUH??

Additional visors were also included. As the instructions show, you have to remove his forehead crest in order to swap them.

Augh!!

A slightly better look at his eyes.

All the visors.

The -_- face type visor.

Unfortunately, I appear to be unable to make the individual visor details show in photos...

Cracked visor, very fitting for Cyandog.

Closeup.

This visor says "damage".

I had to turn on the flash for this one. Sigh... It always feels like a defeat when I have to resort to flash...

Back in his regular visor. Here are the plastic bullets he came with.

You see, he also has action features! Much like the large Hasbro Cyandog, if you push the thingies on his arm-guns, he fires the bullets. Quite impressively, might I add. When I first tried, it flew all the way from my bedroom to the living room.

Additional parts to weaponize his torso. I don't feel like fiddling with him to add them. Besides, I already glued his torso shut.

A little more pose-work.

Is this the first profile view so far in this post? No way! Note that even his feet are jointed. Very cool.

Fist in palm.

I AM A WOLF!!! AWOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Sometimes you just gotta chill.

And so ends the most difficult and frustrating post I ever had to make! He's worse than any type of Pullip body. I can't think of anything to compare him to, really. But I still love him a lot - he looks really good on display, and just the little fact that he's the first new Cyandog figure in years and years is enough for me to appreciate him greatly. Thank you for watching!!!
