THE DREAMSHELF

This year I spontaneously decided to throw myself into the ever popular take-one-picture-of-a-toy-every-day challenge! Which I have seen go by many names. I have decided to go with A Doll A Day, because dolls are what I will be taking pictures of. What counts as a doll, though, is entirely up to me. So far all the photos have been taken with my smartphone because I need it to be convenient in order for this to be something I do every day, but I don't have a particular rule about this. I hope to update the Dreamshelf every week or so with how the project is coming along! Starting NOW!!!

I spent a while on a photoshoot only to discover that the white balance was all wrong!!! It's happened before and I've been all "screw it," but not this time. From now on, I will frigging stop being lazy and go back and retake photos I mess up! GOSH!!!

In the meantime, here's a quick spontaneous shot.

No. I do remember struggling to find the ONE special ONE toy to be my life companion, but in the end, I was just too gosh darned fickle to decide. I had way too many toys, and my favorite changed like every week.


IF I had been less fickle, it COULD have been Baby Moondancer, the only childhood toy I never had the heart to put away in the attic. By the way, this is a good condition replacement I bought on ebay recently, since my actual childhood Baby Moondancer was spotted and yellow and frizzy and is currently in the process of being turned into Baby Fizzy. So perhaps I should have posted a picture of her instead, but I did that in an earlier entry, and her hair hasn't arrived yet anyway.

So I asked a good friend in the US to pick up a random mystery pony for me since I like all the characters anyway. The package arrived today and I was pleasantly surprised to discover Twilight Sparkle inside!

So yesterday was the most perfect birthday since... last year's!! First of all, my brand new doll arrived JUST IN TIME, I guess that makes his birthday the same as mine!

As I said earlier, the My Little Pony special "The End of Flutter Valley" was my favorite thing in the world for quite a while during my childhood. Because of this I always wanted a flutter pony of my own, but never managed to get one because I was too young, possibly not even born, when they were sold in stores. I remember taping clear plastic bag cut-outs to my earth ponies at some point to make my own.
